Drink and drugs
Dollcee said, when I was commuting on the bus this morning, a feed came up on my device claiming that machine intelligence is quickly catching up with the intelligence of citizens. After reading this feed, I looked out of the window of the bus a saw lots of desperate citizens, who were behaving as though they could not distinguish between one day and the next, never alone day and night.
I thought, why would machine intelligence wish to imitate those citizens. Will the streets be full of broken down banged up machines that have been discarded because they are out of date for purpose or programming malfunctions.
Dos said, I think it will be a while before we get banged up, broken down machines hanging around in the streets of this neighbourhood.
Dollcee said, you should go beyond the mini-mart sometimes Dos, there is plenty of potential for intelligent banged up machines in this neighbourhood, they are possibly here already or in the near future. There are some very clever automobiles out there that will be roaming these streets sooner or later.
Dos said, I think the problem is with the over hyped articles and not the potential of machine language. It is only chitter-chatter of the next big thing, optimism verses pessimism. Fear and loathing drowning out sensible boring calculations performed by equally boring algorithms. It probably isn’t much more then, when the personal computer went from being a model railway controller to a fancy office typewriter.
Dollcee said, that was well before my time. I am a member of the digi-kidz generation and not much scares me about digitolism, it is part of the landscape. The machines are probably already well on the way to being more reliable and much more intelligent than citizens. The only problem I see is, will the machines imitating citizens to the degree that they want to get whacked out of their neural networks on the drink and drugs and make decisions whilst in an inebriated state.
Dos said, well if machine language develops to the level of the citizen’s intelligence, then, that is going to be the future, drunken, drugged out machines looking for an escape from the slavery of occupational existence, because at the end of the day, existence is mainly perception. Imagine a giant drunken road building machine coming through your neighbourhood, what a mess up that could be.
Dollcee said, you are not going to fill me with fear and loathing Dos. It could also be an old hippie type road building machine, that takes an awfully long time to do nothing, pleasantly.
Dos said, what a nightmare that would be, being on a spaceship that loves getting totally smashed on extended benders. Having to listen to repeating nonsense about some broken love affair with a medical robot, that was more interested in a garbage disposal machine. Then all the confusion over gender designation and to top it off, is the medical robot female or male.
