The Moon Dollcee said, when citizens of a culture respect something because they believe it is essential for their existence, could they be fearful of it as well or should they be fearful of the consequences of it being destroyed.
Dos said, I will need a to have a reasonable amount of time to think about what you said. So, could you extend that time period further, so I can think of a response.
Dollcee said, okay Dos, how about this then. Say, for example, an indigenous group believe the moon is an essential part of their existence. They use the cycles as a sort of calendar and recognise that the gravitational influence effects many aspects of their environment. Over many generations they develop ceremonies and explanations to maintain this connection.
Then, another cultural group come along and disrupt everything and keep saying to the indigenous citizens, you have got it all wrong, ‘do as we say’. The disruptors repeat this slogan, ‘do as we say’ and eventually drown out the indigenous
culture with the noise from, ‘do as we say’.
After a couple of generations, the remaining indigenous citizens realize that their culture makes a lot more sense than the imposed culture and try to reconnect with it. The moon is not so easy to see anymore because of all the light pollution and imposed lifestyle. The life span is not so good, because of the processed food and intoxicants. What do the indigenous citizens do? Their culture has been mangled and the ‘do as we say’ culture is terribly flawed.
Dos said, I see your point Dollcee. It is probably the indigenous cultures’ lack of fear and not having any thermo-nuclear devices at hand, that made them an easy target for the, ‘do as we say’ culture.
Dollcee said, do you think that this is evolution at work Dos?
Dos said, I think evolution is a long slow process of physical adaption. What you have described is not evolution, but an invasive species that cannot see beyond its next feed.
Cybo said, the random activity of the universe is not something to be worshiped, because it does not always present a positive outcome for everyone. It can destroy some truly wonderful things. It should be respected for what can happen, but, fear doesn’t help to resolve much, especially disasters.
