Squish Dollcee said, as I was about to fall asleep last night, I had a thought, then, I couldn’t get to sleep for what seemed like ages.
Dos said, are you going to share your thought, Dollcee?
Dollcee continued, well, I realised that citizens can only manage to conceive a God that is within their understanding of themselves. So, if there is going to be some sort of inclusion into the current culture, then there has to be an operational shift in the functioning role of Gods. For Gods to exist in the culture, they need to be upgraded.
Dos said, I can see two issues there straightaway. The necessity and the function of Gods.
Gods are convenient for a reference point when something is beyond the current understanding of a citizen or for that matter, the whole culture. Don’t worry about that for now, that is in the laps of the Gods. There is a good case to retain them as the definition of a major function. Say, for example, instead of citizens spending years of their lives learning a lot of arbitrary rules that have no practical meaning for them, except maybe learning the language and then proclaiming, I am a Jumbodian. They could say, the God, Squish, is the God of rain and I am hoping he will stay away today.
Dollcee said, so instead of a centralised power structure making all the determinations of the culture sacred, that must be defended with the blood of the citizens, when some other party says something unacceptable; you delegate functions to Gods with particular interests or involvement in matters.
Exactly, said Dos, there is definitely a role for a centralised assembly to balance interactivity between functions. That should be weighing up options, rather forcing arbitrary decisions on matters of perception.
Dollcee said, I think that is a much better way to go about dealing with Gods, allocate a functionary role for the Gods, instead of a God representing unrelated ideas that have no chance of adapting to cultural dynamics or the weather.
Padoke thought, they sometimes sound like normal citizens, talking a load of bollocks. What would they know about the weather.
