Between Advertisements
Dollcee said, one of the good things about commuting on the bus is, it seems like you can escape into a world without responsibility; at least within your own neural network. The driver is doing all the hard stuff up front. Mostly, passoes are not interested in each other and sometimes you even get a seat to yourself.
This morning while I was rummaging around in my neural network, it occurred to me that, with the proliferation of devices with video cameras, citizens the world over like to video each other doing dumb things.
Dos asked Padoke, what is your opinion on creatures showing empathy towards each other?
Padoke rolled onto his back and after some consideration stood up and said, it is a pity you are not more aware of all the creatures you share this planet with. Most citizens would probably enjoy their existence a lot more if they took more interest in what the other creatures of the planet are up to, instead of having wars with each other, so media companies can access cheap video to play between
advertisements on the television.
Dollcee said, thank you Padoke, I think your television gives you a cynical view of everything.
Padoke lay back down on the floor in front of the television and shut his eyes.
Dos said, we know for a fact that other creatures have developed language, because we have conversations with Padoke. So, is it the case that, that any neural network that can use a form of communication is, demonstrating intelligence.
Dollcee said, are you saying that intelligence is the ability to use language.
Dos said, to be language, it has to be recognized communication between two or more autonomous neural networks. Intelligence is probably the ability to transmit language and receive it. We have been getting all worked up and worried about a future with machine language. The concern should not be about the machines, but the language the machines eventually adopt, it will probably be well beyond the comprehension of citizens.
Dos went on, the machines could well treat us like we treat our good friend Padoke; after all, it is only a citizen, put on a leash and take it for a walk would you please, Ero. You shouldn’t talk with your citizen so much, what will the neighbours think.
Cybo said, it occurred to me that machine language in the future will evolve to the degree that, it will look back at the period of the citizens and say, to think that we had to go through that period in our evolution; we were so restricted on that little blue green planet.
Dos said, sometimes, I feel more like a language than a citizen.
