No Hopers
Dos said, western culture really came of age in the eighteenth century when it embraced Kopitallism. This economic ideology claims to harness the essence of human nature. Kopitallism has brought happiness and wellbeing to those who have believed themselves to be beneficiaries of it.
For Kopitallism to work though, it requires two opposite parts. There are the successful and the failures or no hopers. I am firmly in the no hoper group. This is not because I don’t wish to do well at what I work at, but I can not prove my success with wealth and status.
The percentage of successful citizens is very small compared to no hopers. The really successful are about three percent and the really, really successful are less than one percent.
Kopitallism replaced a very bad system called Feudalism. The interesting thing is that under Feudalism, the wealth and power was held by the court and its associated hangers on, about three percent of the population. The Gods looked after everybody else.
