The empty space
Dollcee asked the empty space around her, is it unusual for a citizen to wonder whether they are a real or a fictitious character?
The empty space surrounding Dollcee did not respond.
Dollcee asked the empty space, if I am really real, why am I not impressed by mega wealthy celebrities who are always deliriously happy to talk about themselves? Why am I content with my status as a normal garden variety citizen?
Padoke farted and pretended to be asleep.
Dos said, I am going to make a new year’s resolution.
Dollcee said, it is June Dos, you are either too late or too early.
Dos said, it is not for this year, it is for next year.
Dollcee said, I would have thought that a fictitious character would be more like a celebrity, than a garden variety ordinary citizen from a low socio-economic neighbourhood.
Cybo said, I suspect that fabulous celebrities require a big support staff and security to maintain their self-importance. They are probably fully engaged all the time and never get to gazed at their belly buttons.
Dos said, next year I am going to ride a bus to a different neighbourhood. That is my new year’s resolution.
Cybo said, neighbourhoods are all the same when you exist in them. They are only different when you are an outsider visiting.
Dos said, well in that case, I won’t bother going to another neighbourhood.
Cybo said, when you are an outsider, then, you are constantly having to adjust your perception on everything so you can relate to what is happening around you.
Dollcee said, when you are a stranger in a strange land, then, it would be easy to believe you are existing in a fictitious world.
Dos said, even though we are here and doing what we do, we might be better at it if we were somewhere else.
Padoke mumbled, being geographically dysfunctional could explain many things around here.
