Education Tourism
Dos said, I have been reading some interesting articles by a professor who claims his institution has become an education tourism destination. Pay the fees, get a degree, the facilities with potential for profitability. Every department must provide a profit every semester or be taken over by a department that can produce profits. The reader of history is now, he who controls history, defines future profitability.
Dollcee said, is that a reflection on what has been going on in education or is it where education is going?
Dos said, are you inferring that education is primarily about re-enforcing cultural values and social standing Dollcee?
Dollcee said, I wouldn’t have a clue Dos, I am only commenting on how your professor describes the education system he is part of. Anyway, what does this professor teach at this institution?
Dos said, he is a professor of Cultural Design. He advocates that the majority of citizens are at a lost since civilisation was adopted. The struggle to determine what to do now there is no need to go and hunt wild animals for food or gather fruits and stuff. The civilisers on the other hand are trying to domesticate and enslave these lost citizens to perform tasks in corporate farming systems in order to create surplus value and subsequently, profits for themselves.
Dollcee said, I thought cultural design would be something to do with entertainment.
Dos said, according to him it is, civilizers believe time is a commodity that can be bought and sold. Therefore, with mass production through mechanical means, citizens have surplus time and it can be exploited to be sold or consumed through entertainment. The definition of entertainment is applied very broadly here.
Cybo came on line and said, a citizen’s time can be seen as, sleep, work and relaxation. Evidently, most citizen’s time is not clearly defined this way though.
Dollcee said, civilisation may have resolved a few minor problems, but it sure has created a lot of difficulties. Like, enslaving citizens in the pursuit of surplus value. It is all a bit ironic, what started as some bright idea about putting something away for a rainy day, has turned into mass enslavement.
Dos said, I was thinking, we recognize that we are digital popular culture content makers, I was wondering if we could add cultural designers in there somewhere.
Dollcee said, I like that, we are really developing a name for ourselves, how about, popular cultural designers and content makers.
Dos said, we are developing, there is no doubt about that.
