Four Characters
Dollcee asked the vacant space around her, do you believe there is a difference between being a content maker and being an artist?
The vacant space did not respond to Dollcee’s question immediately. However, about five minutes later, Dos did respond to Dollcee’s question.
Dos said, content makers like us, simply get on with it and believe that sometime in the future, ‘everything will fall into place’.
Dos went on, artist are scarred that recognition for them won’t happened until they have transitioned back to star dust. However, this is probably a load of nonsense and there are possibly numerous explanations that are way beyond my limited experiences.
Dollcee asked, what will ‘fall into place’?
Dos said, once again, I haven’t got a clue. It is an expression to divert attention away from my ignorance, but also, keep the conversation going. It could also be a sort of way point, that becomes obvious when you have well and truly passed it. Sometimes we can be very clever in retrospect.
Dollcee said, I thought we are already there. We are doing what we want to do, being popular culture content makers. Your grandmother, Rosa pays all the bills and never expects anything of us. We don’t have to wait on tables, wash dishes or unblock toilets, we do what wish to do.
Dos said, I only know how to make music. I don’t know how music pays the bills.
Cybo said, that is really weird Dos. There must be different types of music. Like the music we make is only meant to be listened to and make citizens feel good. Then, there is music that makes huge amounts of money. Of course, there is music that the military likes, that makes young citizens want exchange their existence for a medal in their honour. That is not even considering the music of the Gods.
Dollcee said, I wonder how you make music that gives Rosa a bit of a break from having to look after us, but still makes citizens feel good.
Cybo said, popular culture is a mystery for me. I sometimes wonder how can someone can be a popular culture content maker, when they haven’t got a clue as to what popular culture actually is. Like you said before Dos, it is all obvious once it has passed, but what is going on here and now. What happens if we don’t last long enough to know what is happening to us now?
Dollcee said, I wonder if you need to be able to tell citizens what is about to happen and then, when they turn up, they don’t expect anything from you.
Dos said, they would be very disappointed with me. They would probably think they were looking in the mirror.
Padoke rolled over onto his back and looked at Dollcee, Cybo and Dos and said, we are doing much better than a lot of the images on the television. After all, we are four fictitious characters in an on the line blog. There is awful lot of unpleasant things we do not have to deal with.
