Hacking billboards
Dos said, I am having serious doubts about how the concept of abstract is applied to almost everything and for that matter, any image that is not a selfie. It is such a generic term and who knows what meaning some of the utter nutters and their devotees are applying to it.
Dollcee said, it has become the “hoover term” for contemporary art. It is time to liberate abstraction through assigning it to the historical period, when it really did hold meaning that was accepted by its practitioners.
Dos said, exactly, a study in tonal depth is not abstract, it is about perception. A collage is not a lot of abstract what-ya-call-its glued onto a surface, it is juxtaposing fragments into a collective image.
Dollcee said, gosh, imagine how many Stella careers in the Arts could established through defining Neo-abstraction.
Dos said, a vast enterprise is waiting to be explored. I would prefer, Post-abstractionism.
Cybo said, Ex-abstraction is a good term.
Padoke said, it has to be Meta-abstraction, somethings take time to happen.
Cybo said, no artificial intelligence could ever do that.
Dollcee asked, do what Cybo?
Cybo said, establish an important academic career by defining an accepted meaning of a concept and getting the credit for it.
Dos said, magnificent, going beyond the beyond and even further than that, that is not artificial intelligence. That is brilliance, that only a citizen could achieve.
Dos then said, have you noticed how the street artists wear respiratory masks now.
Dollcee said, that is the continuum. A generation acts in a defiant way and then the next generation formalise it in a socially responsible manner.
Padoke asked, how long will it be before an emerging generation hack digital-billboards?
