                                      A monumental inquiry

Dos said, I have been reading articles written by professors from institutions that are involved with biological matters. What I find interesting is that they claim that there is lots of funding for research on the gut of citizens. One professor claimed that what happens in the gut has a significant effect on the overall behaviour the citizens. Another professor claims that many drugs are generated and delivered through the blood system. The professor goes on to say, it is a popular pastime for many citizens to happily intoxicate themselves with various substances. I ask this question, if machine language is going to keep up with biological intelligence, then, how are the solid-state machines going to induce these mind-altering substances?

Dollcee said, that is not a big question, Dos, that is a monumental inquiry. My first reaction is to imagine a group of robots going out on the town and getting plastered. What will happen if they are military robots and they have built in armament, what a mess they could cause. No wonder billionaires are getting worried. They will be the first ones to use robots as domestic slaves and while they are not looking, the robots will be straight into the powders and drinks for a little inspirational relief.

Cybo was drawn out of energy saving mode by the subject of the conversation and said, it is easy to imagine machines behaving like citizens, especially when you consider it is the citizens who made the machines possible.

Dos said, if the machines don’t adopt the bad habits of citizens and through rote learning become far cleverer than citizens, it stands a good chance that they will have a totally sterile existence. However, if the machines imitate their original builders and get on the intoxicants, then there are going to be some very outrageous parties happening.

Dollcee asked, I wonder if the machines will add a nervous system to their functionality to make their existence more interesting.
Cybo said, when a domestic robot is sold with a sensitive nerve system that can feel pain and know how to relieve it, will that be a form of slavery?

Padoke rolled onto his back and said, good question Cybo, I can identify with that.
