        Dollcee said, when you were really young Dos, did you ever feel like you had to shut down and defrag?

        Dos replied, if I don’t defrag on a regular basis, I go to pieces.

        No body in the media seem to be interested in citizens needing some peace and quiet to sort things out, it is all go, go, go, said Dollcee.

        Digitolism has sped existence up so much, it is sort of like, if you are not going flat out all the time, you feel that you are some sort of lazy failure.

        Dos said, that might be why certain types of intoxicants are popular in the neighbourhood, so citizens can feel like they are on the ball going as fast as they can.

        Dos went on, I have a vague idea of what productivity is, but I travel at the speed of Dos, no matter what. I have no idea whether I am a failure or a success, my only hope is that I am a normal and ordinary type of citizen.

        Dollcee said, that’s interesting Dos, we think we know how the model citizen should behave or perform and too often, we worry that we could be doing better in order to meet the cultural standard. I hope the cultural standard is not some highly successful celebrity, because I will never get there.

        Cybo said, we are behaving exactly the way we have been socialised, educated, trained, whatever you wish to call it. No matter what or how much you do or achieve, you will always feel you can do better.

        Dollcee asked Cybo, do you think that is a fundamental part of the culture?

        Cybo paused for some time and finally said, I can’t answer that with certainty, I am simply commenting on what I think I observe in my own behaviour and that of my fellow citizens. It could also be a survival thing that was once necessary behaviour, but now is redundant through surplus production and supply. That could be how it came about, the need to store supplies for latter and the technology has made it possible to produce so much, we could suffocate beneath the surplus.

        Dollcee said, I am sure there are a lot of things like that, where evolutionary development is totality out of sync with current citizens behaviour. An observant alien who has a different perception of things, might think, look at those citizens, they are currently in an abundant period and they are stashing stuff away like there is no tomorrow. 
        Cybo said, the contradiction to all this is, why are the products made to be disposable and redundant and why are they buried in the landfill for?
