                                          Gig Slaves
Dollcee asked, do you think we are ethical with our content making, Dos?
Dos responded, I am not completely sure where ethics begin and end, Dollcee. I am sure we would be on the good end of the ethical scale; we have no tendency towards bad or negative intent towards other citizens. For that matter, we have no ill intent towards the universe in general.
Dollcee said, by not being sure where ethics begin or end, what do you mean exactly?
Dos said, ethics are cultural rules that are generally recognized as good practice and do not impact negatively on others. However, these rules cannot be enforced by law. What I am not sure about is, like everything, things are constantly in flux and what may be ethically unacceptable now could have been totally acceptable at another time. When the powers to be are dead and gone, their behaviour may be seen as totally unacceptable and then, their monuments can be torn down.
Dollcee asked, are you being cynical Dos?
Dos responded with a slightly raised voice, NO! The buying and selling of citizens were happening on a global scale until recently. It is now viewed as unethical. Slavery was deemed unacceptable when the industrial production process took off and there was a reduced need for human labour. A better option for the leaders of mankind, became a subsistence wage, also known as wage slavery.
Dollcee said, how do you define us then, we don’t even have a wage.
Dos said, we are digi-kidz, we are at the cutting edge of economic development. We belong to the gig economy.
     Cybo said,
we should be called the gig-slaves. The Kopitall economic system, likes to have a pool of skilled labour at the ready, in case there is some unexpected economic activity and the for rest of the time it keeps those jobs at reduced availability.
Dollcee said, lucky for us, we are fictitious characters. It must be very difficult for non-fictitious citizens.
