if you hold any intelligence my dear Pen, would you please give me a sign
Dollcee raised her pen to directly in front of her face. She focused on it intently and said, if you hold any intelligence my dear Pen, would you please give me a sign.
The pen retained its inanimate status in Dollcee’s hand and kept reflecting light from its surface. Dollcee said, there must be something else ticking away on this planet beside us creatures.
Dos said, don’t get despondent Dollcee, it may be a good thing that we can only get recognised and communicate with our fellow creatures on this planet. There may be things in the universe that are unaware of us or couldn’t careless and all of a sudden, it is splat, we are finished.
Dollcee said, I have spent ages looking at images from the space telescopes and we are so tiny, wincey.
Dollcee announced, on behalf of the combination of energy and matter that provides a functional system for my intelligence to exist, I declare that the universe does not exist for the sole purpose of maintaining an environment for citizens to exist.
Dos said, that is an interesting self-definition Dollcee, a combination of energy and matter that provides a functional system for an intelligence to exist.
Dollcee said, what is more interesting is, it is truly amazing how a neural network processing system can semi-autonomously exist and operate a combination of energy and matter. Or, is energy and matter the same thing?
Dos said, Dollcee, you are a sort of self-replicating, semi-autonomous, biological machine.
Dollcee said, when we begin to describe ourselves in this way, it possibly won’t be too long before there are debates over whether, biological machines are a better option than solid state machines.
Dos said, are we being naive to believe that intelligence can only exist within some type of physical machine.
Dollcee said, now you are getting to the weird part Dos, has this conversation moved onto a metaphysical one and is no longer scientific.
Padoke said, be careful you don’t get struck down with a bolt of lightning. You conversation is far from original. Next you will start to imagine we are part of a vast laboratory experiment and a group of scientists led by Zues and Prometheus, observing our every move.
Dos said, so, Padoke, you believe that intelligence needs to be generated by some combination of energy and matter. I will go along with Dollcee’s question; is matter, energy formed into something.
Padoke said, I am a domesticated dog who has spent almost my entire existence in front of a television, what do you expect from me. I can only reflect on what I have been exposed to. It doesn’t matter; it is all energy.
