Yitch Yitch Yitch means go away you loonies. It belongs to the language of an obscure tribal group called the Ubellongue. They have decreased in numbers dramatically over the last two centuries, but they continue to keep a strong connection with traditional culture against all odds within the surviving peoples.
The women of the tribal group take full responsibility for Tribal art and language. When their lands were threatened by imperialists colonizers, they became aware that the thing these colonizers were targeting was their identity. They are peaceful people happy with their identity and their ways. However, they were no match for an aggressive take-over of their lands.
Missionaries and anthropologists came with patronizing smiles and stories that sounded like a load of old wibbley-wollering. The men would laugh at them and tell them get on their thingies and go away. This made the missionaries very angry and they said, God will not be impressed with your behavior.
The women said, lets hide our important things and hope they get on their thingies and go away. They didn’t, they kept turning up until they totally over ran the land. The Ubellongue could never understand why these imposters are such a miserable lot and why they hate each other so much. They are always competing and fighting with each other.
One of the surviving Ubellongue women said to Dollcee, you can only exist when you have a language and art. Lose that girl and it is all over. All that is left is a body, a slave for the man with the gun.
