Emotions

Dos said to Padoke, sometimes I get worried about what I am doing as a musician.

Padoke said, that is no where near enough information for me to even begin to understand what you are on about Dos. I invite you to continue, so I can get some idea of where this is going.

Dos did not take any offense from Padoke’s sarcasm and continued on. Music is essentially using sound to trigger emotional responses from animals. The connections between the sounds and what type of response it triggers, is most likely learnt from culture. I am using the word animal, because I am discussing this matter with a dog and not another humanoid. Do you agree with me so far, asked Dos.

Padoke said, I have heard that some snakes are attracted by the sub-woofer of trance dance music and birds love to sing. You are being species centric, Dos.

What about you Padoke, what do you like?

For me Dos, more often, it is what I don’t like, rather than, what I do like.

Okay, we can agree that music can affect animals’ emotions, said Dos.

Padoke said, please continue Dos.

Well, Padoke, I am very worried about being a Pied Piper and possibly leading other animals in arbitrary directions that is of no benefit to them.

Is that it, asked Padoke.

Yes, answered Dos.

Sometimes Dos, I think your talents are totally wasted being a musician. You could better serve your species by being a plumber, that way you could really see what it is all about.
